Texas A&M University HSC Parking Garage Lighting Upgrades
Texas A&M University HSC Parking Garage Lighting Upgrades
Houston, TX
Overview
Prism Electric recently completed the lighting system upgrade at Texas A&M University Health Science Center’s 1020 Holcombe Campus in the Houston Medical District. The parking garage is dedicated to the adjacent building undergoing a major renovation for the university’s bio-engineering department but is also used for public parking during construction. The garage was constructed in the early 1970s and had T12 fluorescent fixtures that were converted to T8 years ago.
The upgrade minimized costs by installing a combination of new LED 28W strip fixtures and new lamps and ballasts on the night light circuits. Overall the project used approximately 400 new fixtures. Light levels were greatly improved and the longevity of LEDs will minimize future maintenance expenses. Prism also provided the university with a 10-year fixture warranty.
